Tutoring is based on the police ROADCRAFT system of Driving and Riding

Training

We tutor Advanced Driving for :

We tutor Advanced Riding for :

Our Tutors offer free 1-to-1 practical sessions to subscribed members of RoADAR

Our volunteer Tutors donate their time and tutoring free of charge. Drivers use their own Car, PCV, or LGV with the Tutor travelling as a passenger. Riders use their own Motorcycle with the Tutor following or leading on their own Motorcycle. Riders receiving tuition make a contribution to their tutor's fuel costs, since they  use their own machine for practical sessions.

Practical Tutoring

Regular practical guidance from a RoADAR Northeast Tutor on your Roadcraft Practical training will only be available after your application has been accepted.  If you reside outside of the North East area, we will not be able to provide tutoring from our RoADAR Northeast tutors. Practical sessions with your Tutor will be the foundations for progressing your skills. Your Tutor will be able to prioritise and structure your individual development. Sessions are scheduled in a flexible manner between you and your Tutor so that they are mutually convenient.

Regular Practice

Practice what you have learned between your practical sessions Whenever you get out on the road you should practice your Roadcraft. It can sometimes be difficult to change from what you’re used to doing in the short time during your practical sessions. So the time when you’re out on your own is perfect for practicing what you’ve learned and incorporating these new skills into your every day driving or riding.

Take a RoSPA Advanced Test

When your Tutor believes that you have reached test-standard you may (if you wish), apply to RoSPA headquarters (RoADAR HQ) to take the RoSPA Advanced Driving or Riding test. The Advanced Test is not managed by RoADAR Northeast - RoADAR HQ are in charge of RoSPA Advanced Driving and Riding tests. It is up to the member to contact RoSPA HQ to organise an test when they feel ready. Usually a months notice is required for test appointments.

The RoSPA Test Application

The test application process is straight-forward.   Download the application Form from the RoADAR website, complete Step#1 and Step#2 of the Form, tick the box to indicate which test you want [ Car or Bike, and whether you’re under or over 26 yrs of age ] then complete the payment section.  Send your Form and payment off to the address on the Form then wait a few weeks !

You will be contacted by a local examiner who will agree a mutually convenient date, time and location for your test and answer any questions you might have.   The test will last about 90 minutes and you’ll get your result at the end of the test !
